Mission of the Center

The Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences supports the missions of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC and their partners to advancing patient and population health through improvement in the knowledge, competence, and performance of health professionals and teams and translation of the research and the best available evidence into practice. When appropriate, emphasis is placed on advancing mutual respect and team values, the clarification of team roles, patient and family communication, and team functioning. The scope of our activities is focused on the two institutions as well as strategic partners who can contribute to the achievement of our overall program outcomes.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
