WLA - Infection Prevention System Orientation Module 4, Part 2: The Joint Commission Chapter

New Infection Preventionists need to receive standardized, system-level guidance about The Joint Commission Chapter for Infection Prevention and Control, Standards and Elements of Performance, the UPMC response, and applicable UPMC policies. This knowledge enables them to correctly interpret the standards and lead the UPMC response to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Describe a Survey Analysis for Evaluating Risk (SAFER) Matrix.
  • Interpret The Joint Commission (TJC) Chapter on Infection Prevention and Control to understand its relationship with the Facilities Infection Prevention & Control Plan.
  • Interpret TJC Standards and Elements of Performance.
  • Interpret the UPMC Response to TJC Standards and Elements of Performance.
  • List UPMC policies and procedures that apply to TJC Standards and Elements of Performance.
