Vaccine hesitancy and ambivalence are normal responses to vaccine conversations in healthcare. This session will focus on person-centered skills that can help clinicians free their minds of ambition or resolution for the member and support members’ autonomy to choose while activating them to make well-informed decisions for their health.

  1. Assess personal understanding of patient ambivalence and hesitancy around the topic of vaccines and how clinicians can support patients in these conversations via patient-centered skills

Renee Greenwald, MS, NBC-HWC  

Renee Greenwald is the Manager of Clinical Training & Quality Assurance at UPMC Health Plan where she is responsible for supporting the Health Coach Academy team with developing the Motivational Interviewing skillset of UPMC Health Plan clinicians through various training and Quality Assurance Review. She has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University and a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, specializing in wellness and fitness and wellness coaching from PennWest California.  Renee is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and is a Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach with about 5 years of experience in health coaching.

Brittany Chapman, MSW, NBC-HWC

Brittany Chapman is a Clinical Engagement Coordinator at UPMC Health Plan. Her responsibilities include professional skill development and training of care managers and health coaches. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wright State University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Southern California. Brittany is also a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach with about 6 years of experience in Health Coaching.

 

In support of improving patient care, the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Pharmacy (CPE)
This knowledge-based activity provides 1 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit(s).   Pharmacists Only: As required by the ACPE, credits will be uploaded to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program.
