2026 TiPS Behavioral Health and Pediatric Primary Care Conference - A Focus on Disordered Eating
If you have any questions, please contact Meghan Stoehr at 724.933.3912, ext. 273 or [email protected]
There is no fee to attend this conference.
Children's TiPS is a Pennsylvania HealthChoices program designed to increase the availability of child psychiatry consultation to pediatric primary care providers. Children’s TIPS is funded by HealthChoices (Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance Program, or Medicaid), Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and UPMC HealthPlan to provide telephonic and real-time virtual assessments for youth with Medicaid, CHIP, and UPMC insurance, living in the Northwest and Southwest HealthChoice Zones. Children’s TiPS is hopeful to expand child and adolescent services to include all insurances in the coming year.
This year, UPMC has piloted a Perinatal TIPS program to provide real-time consultation to any medical provider (primary care, OB-GYN, psychiatrist) working with individuals in the perinatal period. Providers can consult with perinatal psychiatry as well as perinatal substance use experts. This pilot is currently being funded by the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.
In addition to real time peer to peer consultation, TiPS provides free training and education to practitioners on a variety of behavioral health topics.
Due to positive feedback from last year’s conference, we will continue with a smaller and more interactive conference format. This year we partnered with UPMC’s Center for Eating Disorder and will be focusing on disordered eating in the pediatric population. All sessions will be interactive with small and large group discussions facilitated by experts in the field.
This conference is being sponsored by the UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics Children’s TIPS Team and co-funded by Pennsylvania HealthChoices
Learning Objectives
At the completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Discuss how to utilize Children’s TiPS for psychiatric consultation
- Describe different types of eating disorders that are present in the pediatric population
- Discuss methods of managing youth presenting to primary care with concerns for disordered eating
- Discuss how and when to collaborate and consult with outside professionals when caring for youth with eating disorders
