Child Maltreatment - 2026 APP Summit

This course provides an essential overview of child maltreatment, including Pennsylvania’s legal definitions, common risk factors, and how to recognize physical and sexual abuse. Participants will also learn best practices for reporting concerns and gain an understanding of the comprehensive support offered by the Child Advocacy Center to community providers.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, and nurse anesthetists.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify injury patterns that indicate a high concern for physical child abuse.
  • Differentiate presenting symptoms that raise suspicion for abusive head trauma in infants.
  • Describe the essential components required to complete an effective ChildLine report.
