Transplant anesthesiologists, intensivists, transplant surgeons, hepatologists, cardiologists, residents, and fellows

Learning Objectives

Learner Objectives Session 1: International Session of the Korean Society of Transplantation Anesthesiologists (KSTA) ● Describe current challenges and evolving roles of transplant anesthesiologists across international practice settings. ● Compare regional approaches to transplant anesthesia in Japan and Korea. ● Identify future directions and collaborative opportunities in global transplant anesthesiology. Pro/Con Debate: Vanguard Committee ● Evaluate the evidence supporting the use of prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC) versus fresh frozen plasma (FFP) in liver transplantation. ● Analyze risks, benefits, and clinical scenarios favoring PCC or FFP use. ● Apply debate insights to informed, patient-specific coagulation management decisions. Cardiothoracic Transplant Anesthesia ● Discuss strategies to facilitate rapid recovery following heart transplantation. ● Assess the role of ex-situ heart perfusion in extended-criteria donor utilization. ● Review current evidence for antifibrinolytic use during ECMO in lung transplantation. Session 3: Research Session ● Recognize impactful research contributions in transplant anesthesiology over the past year. ● Describe updates and applications of transplant anesthesiology databases. ● Summarize key findings from recent transplant anesthesiology literature and their clinical implications. Abdominal Transplant Anesthesiology ● Discuss the relationship between vitamin B12 and nephrotoxicity in transplant patients. ● Evaluate the role of hypovolemic hemodilution during liver transplantation. ● Review anesthetic considerations unique to kidney and pancreas transplantation. ● Apply evidence-based perioperative strategies to optimize abdominal transplant outcomes.
