2026 Perioperative Care in Liver Transplantation
Joint meeting of the ILTS (International Liver Transplant Society) & SATA (Society for the Advancement of Transplant Anesthesia) to be held at immediately prior to the 2026 ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologist) Annual meeting in San Diego, CA

Transplant anesthesiologists, intensivists, transplant surgeons, hepatologists, cardiologists, residents, and fellows
Learning Objectives
Improve clinical knowledge and skills in the areas discussed: Optimization of intraoperative hemodynamics: Postreperfusion syndrome, vasoplegic syndrome, optimizing portal person and outcome Leadership and education in transplant anesthesiology: How does transplant anesthesia prepare you for leadership, innovations in fellowship education Peroperative cardiovascular evaluation in liver transplant: Stress testing, CT angiography, invasive evaluation and right ventricular dysfunction Case presentations: Liver transplant after recent yellow fever outbreak, spinal analgesia for LT recipients Pro/Con Debate: Every liver transplant should be managed with plasma based transfusion vs factor concentrates Postoperative Challenges: How to balance sepsis, immunosuppression and rejection, defining graft dysfunction, acute alcoholic hepatitis outcomes and relapse risk Future Directions: TEE certification for liver transplant anesthesiology
