Substance Use Disorder Training for Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers

This training will focus on the knowledge, skills, and care orientation needed for nurses and advanced practice providers to successfully identify, treat, and manage patients who are using/misusing alcohol and other substances. The training will also fulfill Part One of the application requirement for the Drug Addiction Treatment Act (DATA) Waiver credential. The DATA waiver allows licensed Advanced Practice Providers to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder.

Learning Objectives

Participants in the Substance Use Disorder Training for Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers will be able to:
1)    Describe addiction as a priority healthcare issue in the United States.
2)    Describe how substance use stigma and racism affect healthcare access and treatment.
3)    Describe the APP/nurse’s role in providing care for patients with substance use issues.
