Basic Arrhythmia Course
This course presents contents related to the basics of cardiac arrhythmia. In the course, there will be a significant amount of time practicing how to measure and interpret basic arrhythmias. Group learning will be used to assist in the learning process. Cumulative reviews of content will occur throughout the course. Successful completion of the course will be measured by the learner obtaining at least an 80% on the final examination.

Learning Objectives
Describe the electrophysiological basis of cardiac rhythms/arrhythmias |
Utilize telemetry for cardiac rhythm/arrhythmia interpretation |
Recognize arrhythmias that originate in the sinus node, atrium, AV junction and ventricles |
Recognize arrhythmias that originate due to conduction defects at the AV node |
Describe the clinical effects of arrhythmias |
Explain the general principles of treating arrhythmias |
Explain the clinical principals for treating arrhythmias including drug and/or electrical treatments |
Identify the changes in the ST segments on a 12-lead EKG and recognize those changes that indicate ischemia and infarction |
Verbalize understanding of cardiac monitoring policies |
