Learning Objectives

After this session participants will be able to:

• Recall the components, functioning, and mechanisms of the renal system and the alterations existing within the oncology patient
• Verbalize understanding of the etiology of electrolyte abnormalities and identification of abnormal laboratory findings
• Identify treatment methods and considerations of the medical management of the oncologic patient with electrolyte abnormalities
• Define the impact on the oncologic patient due to the elevation and depression of phosphorus, potassium, and sodium serum levels
