G-Tubes and care in the NICU
This activity is presented by the surgical nursing team, who leads parent g-tube education. This can help the NICU staff to work together with the surgical group to provide the best care for the patients with g-tubes and education for families of the infants going home with g-tubes. A g-tube procedure is a common surgical procedure for patients in the NICU, but it is not without concerns post operatively and beyond. Skin breakdown can be a post operative concern that this presentation will discuss. Patients are also going home faster after their procedures, and parents need to learn how to care for the new medical equipment. This presentation will cover the opportunities for nursing staff to provide training and education to parents on g-tubes and their care.
