General and community emergency departments primarily focus on adult emergency medicine and lack both education and competency in pediatric specific disease recognition, diagnosis, and management. This program will focus on the pediatric patient and congenital heart disease.

Following this presentation, the learner will be able to :

Describe the approach to a crashing newborn with congenital heart disease.

Describe the approach to a crashing 2 month old with congenital heart disease.

Identify common surgeries and complications from surgery for pediatric congenital heart disease.

Identify common assessment presentations and diagnoses for pediatric patients with undiagnosed congenital heart disease.

Describe emergency department management of a pediatric patient with congenital heart disease.
