Rural Trauma Team Development Course 11.2.21
The goal of RTTDC is to improve the quality of care in rural communities by developing a timely, organized, rational response to the care of the trauma patient and a team approach that addresses common problems in initial assessment and stabilization. It is the purpose of RTTDC to increase the efficient use of resources and enhance the level of care provided in rural environments to the injured patient.

Learning Objectives
The course objectives are to teach participants to:
• Organize a rural trauma team with defined roles and responsibilities for the members.
• Communicate effectively among team members and between trauma facilities
• Prepare a rural facility for appropriate care of the injured patient.
• Identify local resources and limitations.
• Assess and resuscitate a trauma patient.
• Initiate the transfer process early.
• Establish a performance improvement process.
• Define the relationship between the rural trauma facility and the regional trauma system.
