This conference is designed to provide state of the art information and best practice guidelines in hyperbaric medicine.
Target Audience
This course is intended for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and all clinicians involved in hyperbaric medicine.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the impact of historical events in relation to hyperbaric medicine
- Describe the relationship that diving and hyperbaric pressure has on the body
- Describe associated risk of barotraumas with hyperbaric medicine
- Demonstrate the ability to complete dive tables
- Demonstrate elements to be included in the pre-treatment assessment
- Demonstrate elements to be included in the post-treatment assessment
- Comprehend the relationship between Diabetes and Hyperbaric medicine
- Review indications and understand the requirements for complete and accurate documentation (1)
- Review indications and understand the requirements for complete and accurate documentation (2)
- Describe the conditions that are contraindicated to begin hyperbaric oxygen
- Demonstrate knowledge of resources for hyperbaric treatment and reimbursement information
- Understand the principles of wound management and appropriate use of dressing products
- Demonstrate the understanding of the process to determine payment and authorization for hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments
- Demonstrate understanding of safety standards
- Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures
- Identify prohibited items and demonstrate understanding of practices that pose a fire risk
- Describe practices that are essential for infection control
- Describe understanding of chamber operations
- Demonstrate knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and processes to maintain the safety of patients and staff
- Demonstrate comprehension of hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Demonstrate ability to perform TCOM
- Demonstrate knowledge about compressed gases
- Demonstrate knowledge of completion of checklist and required documentation
- Demonstrate ability to chamber cleaning and safety checks
- Demonstrate ability to perform Pre-post ear assessment with the utilization of the Teed scale
- Demonstrate ability to perform emergency evacuation
- Demonstrate ability to perform compression and decompression of a chamber
