Women’s Health Course

This is a one-day interactive course highlighting the most recent evidence-based updates in women's health. The morning sessions will feature faculty panels discussing the complexities of women's vascular health across the lifespan, and how to evaluate and manage chronic pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. Participants will be able to select 2 workshops to attend during the afternoon sessions. Topics will be Menopause OR Bone Health, and Update in Breast Cancer Screening OR Reproductive Health for Special Populations. The day will culminate in a must-see keynote lecture on the constantly evolving data and management of Perimenopause, given by Rebecca Thurston PhD and Dr. Sarah Merriam. We will end the day relaxing and networking with wine and cheese next door in the Bloomfield Reception Room at the Hyatt House on Baum Blvd.

Learning Objectives

Identify, assess, and treat metabolic and cardiovascular disease in women, while appreciating gender specific differences.

Define pelvic floor dysfunction and its role in chronic pelvic pain; develop a differential diagnosis, diagnostic, and treatment plan for patients with chronic pelvic pain.

Describe the changes patients experience during perimenopause and menopause, how risks for chronic illness changes after menopause, and the risks and benefits of using hormones.

Explain and implement breast cancer screening guidelines in average and high-risk patients.

Counsel patients with complex medical conditions on family planning, contraception, and appropriate medication use.
