12th Annual PittMcGowan Wound Care Consortium: Improving Clinical Care Through Cutting-Edge Science

This conference is designed to provide state-of-the-art information and best practice guidelines in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Both medical and surgical management strategies to optimize wound healing will be addressed.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, nurses, physical therapists, podiatrists, dieticians, advanced practice providers, researchers, students, and all clinicians involved in wound healing or wound care issues. Course material will benefit both novice and experienced clinicians.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:
• Define the outcomes of the NIH Diabetic Foot Consortium
• Describe the use of the PRO Tool and reporting patient outcomes
• Translate the impact of culture and receiving care
• Explain the new technologies utilized to detect pressure wounds
• Describe the methods to ensure the wounded patient is at optimal nutritional status
• Recognize the impact of wound care at the war in Ukraine
• Discover tools to guide differential diagnosis when care for an atypical wound
• Give examples of the methods to measure biofilm in wounds and the relationship
• Demonstrate the impact and care of a person with a wound as the result of xylazine
• Review the surgical options to treat a venous insufficiency
• Demonstrate understanding of the impact of electroceutical dressings on biofilm
• Analyze the method that Ai is being utilized in the medical field
• Demonstrate of the purpose and impact of an alliance
• Discover the patients that would benefit from HBO in their care plan
• Identify techniques to manage complex appliance applications
• Summarize the process to transition the care of a patient
• Identify methods to improve the biomechanics of the patient with a DFU
• Summarize the impact of Charcot foot upon healing wounds
• List the lower extremity vascular assessments
• Interpret the role of the nurse in wound care
• Summarize the method to develop a dashboard to prevent pressure injuries
• Examine barriers with providers that lead to amputation rates
• Explain the steps in developing a power plan
• Choose the proper dressing selection with wound type
• Analyze considerations for the cancer patient
• Consider the knowledge about how personal trauma can affect the patient’s acceptance of care
• Explain methods to expand wound care in the rural area
• Demonstrate the understanding of the patients that would benefit from the use of Capsaicin

After Oct. 23, all registrations for this conference are accepted as on-site registrations, provided space is still available. The preferred method is to pre-register. If you register on-site, you will need to step out of line and complete the online registration outlined in the pre-registration section or complete a paper form accompanied by a credit card, where you will be enrolled after the event. 

Virtual Registration
