Cancelled-Compassionate Care for the Fasting Patient During Ramadan_Enduring

This session will educate clinicians on providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to fasting patients during Ramadan. The session will explore the spiritual significance of fasting, common medical challenges encountered in fasting patients, and strategies for delivering care that aligns with both health priorities and religious practices.

Target Audience

This course is designed for physicians, nurses, and clinical staff.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the unique health risks fasting poses to patients during Ramadan, such as dehydration, glycemic emergencies, and exacerbation of chronic conditions.
  • Respect and accommodate patients’ spiritual beliefs while navigating ethical dilemmas in clinical care.
  • Apply culturally sensitive communication strategies to engage fasting patients in shared decision-making regarding their health.
