Bridges to Epic Excellence: OR Managers

This course is designed to equip OR Managers with essential Epic reporting workflows to enhance perioperative performance through efficient use of key performance reports and customizable analytics. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of OR utilization, block allocation, and flip room analysis, while learning to identify underutilized blocks and evaluate block time requests. The course also covers using SlicerDicer to resolve case length accuracy issues and ensure timely access to actionable data, ultimately supporting improved operational efficiency, patient safety, and outcomes.

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Follow essential reporting workflows that include running key performance reports and using report details to optimize perioperative performance
  • Create customized reports to ensure you have the right data at the right time
  • Obtain an in-depth understanding of your organizations OR utilization using Epic's OR management tools
  • Optimize block allocation by identifying surgeons who frequently request and utilize more OR time
  • Evaluate block time requests and identify underutilized blocks
  • Analyze block utilization for flip rooms
  • Use SlicerDicer to find common procedures with inaccurate case lengths and understand the next steps to resolve case length accuracy issues.
