Bridges to Epic Excellence: Surgeons

This course equips providers with essential skills to navigate Epic efficiently, focusing on optimizing their workspace for improved clinical workflows. Participants will learn to find and release open OR time, customize In Basket and clinical review tools, and streamline order placement, diagnosis entry, and note writing. The program also covers managing preference lists, order sets, and case requests, as well as setting up common visit diagnoses and note phrases. By enhancing familiarity with these tools, the course aims to improve provider efficiency, patient safety, and overall care outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify and release available OR time using Epic tools to improve surgical scheduling efficiency.
  • Personalize In Basket and clinical review tools to streamline communication and patient data management.
  • Place orders, enter diagnoses, and document notes in Epic with greater speed and accuracy.
  • Organize and maintain preference lists, Order Sets, and case requests to support consistent clinical workflows.
  • Configure common visit diagnoses and create note phrases to enhance documentation efficiency
