16th Annual Neonatal and Pediatric ECLS Educational Conference

This conference is dedicated to providing high quality educational opportunities to clinicians committed to caring for children requiring Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) therapies including, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) support. 
 
We are excited to be offering multiple options for attendance this year.   

Virtual Attendance: Attend the 2-day virtual conference at no cost.  The conference will be streamed live from 10:30am-5pm on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th.
 
In Person Attendance with ECMO Simulation ($200*): Will be held at the John G. Rangos, Sr. Conference Center on the Lawrenceville Campus of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Only 24 spaces available for this in-person option with a complete day of Neonatal & Pediatric ECMO simulation.  In addition to the didactic sessions on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th, in person attendees will have a full day of Neonatal & Pediatric ECMO Simulation on Friday, October 10th.  Following ELSO’s Guidelines for Training and Education for ECMO Specialists, simulations will be focused on air embolism, pump failure, gas failure, membrane lung failure, drainage insufficiency, and accidental decannulation. *Discount for UPMC employees. Interested in a Neonatal & Pediatric ECMO Cannulation Workshop?  We have an option for you. Join us on Saturday, October 11th, for the Neonatal & Pediatric ECMO Cannulation Workshop ($1500).   Each learner will cannulate 4 simulation models during this hands-on workshop.  Each session will start with a clinical scenario followed by group discussion on ECMO mode, cannula selection and cannulation strategy.  Only 16 spaces are available for this unique opportunity.

Target Audience

This ECLS educational conference is intended for ECMO Specialists, Neonatologists, Pediatric and Adult Critical Care Physicians, Pediatric and Adult Surgeons, Perfusionists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and any other professionals interested in neonatal and pediatric ECLS.

Learning Objectives

Identify ECMO complications and follow an algorithm base approach to resolving complications.
Implement guidelines for neuro follow up for ECMO patients Establish a multidisciplinary approach to ECMO care.
