This training will provide a brief overview of reporting obesity and BMI with compliant ICD-10-CM documentation and code assignment.
Target Audience
Physicians, Advanced Practice Practitioners (CRNP and PA), Residents, Medical Students, and Physician Practice Staff
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the importance of documenting the BMI with an associated diagnosis as BMI values 40 and greater risk-adjust.
- Develop the habit of assessing and linking the BMI value to an associated condition, while also documenting elements of M.E.A.T. for that condition.
- Build skills of best practice documentation for obesity, morbid obesity, class of obesity, and BMI values
- Evaluate provider documentation examples to determine whether the morbid obesity HCC is appropriately supported.
