The activity emphasizes practical strategies for initial evaluation and management to support confident identification of Long COVID, promote high‑value care in family medicine settings, and facilitate appropriate referral to rehabilitation and specialty resources when needed.

Target Audience

Physicians, Advanced Practice Practitioners (CRNP and PA), Residents, Medical Students, and Physician Practice Staff

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the current definition, epidemiology, and public health impact of Long COVID based on guidance from NASEM, WHO, CDC, and other major sources.
  • Apply the paradigm of the “Post-COVID State” by identifying when symptom patterns consistent with Long COVID should prompt consideration of Long COVID alongside other potential conditions in the differential diagnosis.
  • Identify the diverse clinical presentations, symptom patterns, and risk factors associated with Long COVID, including relevant demographic and health disparities.
  • Utilize the UPMC/Pitt IMPACCT Long COVID Care Program as a resource to support and improve Long COVID care in Family Medicine practices and as a specialty referral option..
