9th Annual Pittsburgh Hand and Surgery Conference: The Outliers: Challenging Cases in Hand Therapy and Surgery
The interdisciplinary conference brings together leading experts in hand therapy and surgery to explore the management of upper extremity injuries that fall outside of the norm. Focusing on the "outliers" cases that are complex, delayed recurrent or resistant to traditional approaches--this program will challenge clinicians to think critically about what worries them most and when symptoms becoming concerning. Through case based discussions, evidence informed lectures and collaborative problem solving, participants will gain practical education and skills for navigating the most challenging of patients.
Target Audience
The conference will bring together surgeons, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and students to share expertise, experience and evidence for handling upper extremity nerve issues and strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course:
· Participants will be able to understand the collaborative model of communication between therapist and surgeon that is critical for the unexpected outlier cases
· Participants will be able to recognize complications of upper extremity injuries/procedures and recognize how to avoid them and effectively care for them if they occur
· Participants will learn about the latest evidence in diagnosing and treating upper extremity injuries
