Consortium Ethics: The Socioeconomic Factors that Undermine Good Health and Good Healthcare
This course will increase healthcare professionals’ awareness of the socioeconomic and structural factors that undermine health outcomes and contribute to inequities in healthcare delivery. By examining the relationships among public policy, poverty, implicit bias, patient rights, and racial disproportionality, this session aims to strengthen clinicians’ ability to recognize systemic barriers, mitigate bias in practice, and promote equitable, high-quality, and patient-centered care while safeguarding public health.

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
Examine the links between policies, poverty and health
Understand the effect of implicit bias of health professionals on quality healthcare
Develop practice strategies to examine patient rights, the disproportionality along race, and the potential risks to public health
