Minimally Invasive Approaches to The Management of Esophageal Cancer
This three-day program will consist of a series of lectures, live case demonstrations, and a hands-on porcine surgical wet lab highlighting surgical management of esophageal cancer. The surgical wet lab allows participants to gain hands-on experience with the anastomosis, pyloroplasty, and conduit creation steps of the minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) and robotic assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) operation. Several other technologies pushing forward the treatment of esophageal disease, including EMR, PDT, BarrX RFA, and much more will also be available to wet lab participants. Didactic sessions will include keynote addresses from world-renowned experts on esophageal cancer, debates in cutting-edge aspects of surgical management, and exploration of multimodal therapies. Experts will present technical aspects of various procedures to treat malignant esophageal conditions, along with the risks, benefits and outcomes. Finally, course attendees will have the opportunity to observe minimally invasive and robotic assisted minimally invasive esophagectomies in an environment ideal for discussion and sharing of technical pearls at the broadcast of the live surgery.
Target Audience
This course is designed for general and thoracic surgeons, gastroenterologists, minimally invasive team members (MD, DO, RN, PA, NP), allied health professionals, and any interested medical, radiation, or surgical oncology specialists.
