Nurse practitioners can use CME or ANCC credits for continuing education. ANCC credit is generally accepted for all nurses. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Certification Board recognizes and accepts CE contact hours from activities approved by AMA, ACCME, ANCC, AANP, AAFP, and AACN. For Physician Assistants (PA), CCHES issues documentation to PA participants that states the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. This documentation in the form of a certificate of attendance, is acceptable for NCCPA certification maintenance and state license renewal purposes as long as the documentation clearly indicates that the activity was certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit.
