This course is designed to help you understand the aging process. This program is intended to take you on a journey. A journey to an older you, where you will walk in the shoes and see through the eyes of an older adult.

2. Discuss and experience changes due to disease and disabilities associated with the aging process.
3. Understand the personal, interpersonal, and social factors that impact aging.
4. Develop and support strategies to promote healthy aging.

Morgan Goldschmidt is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia where she completed her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Biochemistry. Additionally, she completed her Master’s in Public Health with an emphasis on Health Policy and Promotion. In her studies she completed an internship at the Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging, supporting the volunteer Ombudsman program, and lead several pilot programs within the Department of Student Affairs. After graduation, she worked in a Comprehensive Mental Health Personal Care Home supporting aging individuals with complex behavioral and physical health needs. Morgan is a lifetime learner and completed her Masters in Health Management Systems at Duquesne University in 2019. She continues to use her educational background and professional experiences as a Clinical Engagement Coordinator at UPMC Health Plan. When not working Morgan love traveling, spending time with family and friends, and finding new recipes to try at home
Cassie Smolic is a Clinical Engagement Coordinator on the Clinical Training and Education team and has been with the UPMC Health Plan for 5 years. In her current role, Cassie is involved in the Clinical Affairs Onboarding training for new staff, the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) training for lifestyle health coaches, and serves as a co-chair on the Professional Practice Council (PPC) where she enjoys fostering an environment for staff grow professionally. Prior to joining the education team, Cassie served as a lifestyle heath coach, where she was a DPP coach herself, and played an integral part in helping members prevent type 2 diabetes through healthy diet, exercise, and weight loss. Cassie’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in education from Slippery Rock University and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in nutrition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Cassie is thrilled to be able to combine her passions of health/wellness and education in her current role, as it’s rewarding to have the opportunity to help others learn new skills. When not working, Cassie enjoys teaching her indoor cycle classes, crafting, and spending time with her friends and family.
CCM CE will be provided: 3 CE - CCM COA will be sent via email from UPMC Health Plan nurse planner approximately 6-8 weeks following the live date of the course.
This activity is eligible for endorsed credit for UPMC Health Plan EMTs and Paramedics. Complete ETHOS course work, obtain the attendance certificate, and submit to EMS governing body for 3 CE credit(s).
As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Pittsburgh is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Other health care professionals will receive a certificate of attendance confirming the number of contact hours commensurate with the extent of participation in this activity
