ForwardBeyond the Basics: Straining to Get It Right
This will be a one day in-person conference for physicians, cardiac sonogrophers, and students who work in the field of echocardiography. Participants will learn about a variety of pathologies and the latest guidelines for evaluation and diagnosis through a series of lectures, panel discussions, and case presentations.

Learning Objectives
Use and interpret strain to differentiate between multiple pathologies leading to visible LV abnormalities and know when strain may be needed to reveal hidden LV dysfunction.
Recognize subtle signs that suggest possible amyloidosis in patients with thickened heart walls and perform additional evaluation that will lead to proper diagnosis and treatment.
Properly evaluate and diagnose diastolic dysfunction in accordance with the latest ASE guidelines.
Perform a thorough examination of the forgotten ventricle- the right heart, and track changes that, when properly measured, indicate whether right heart failure is progressing and help direct medical management.
Distinguish constrictive pericarditis from other restrictive filling patterns and utilize and interpret the additional echo measurements needed to diagnose this easy-to-miss pathology.
