2nd Annual Cancer Rehabilitation Conference

May 2, 2020

As cancer survival rates are on the rise, survivors are advocating for improved quality of life both during treat-ment and after treatment ends. In addition, research is showing that therapy and physical medicine and reha-bilitation interventions are beneficial and safe for patients with cancer. This course will aim to outline the gaps in care and raise awareness for the importance of cancer rehabilitation for all healthcare professionals includ-ing physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and therapists. The course will also have two discussion-based tracts in the afternoon, one with a clinical focus aiming to improve clinician's comfort level with treating a patient who has or had a cancer diagnosis as well as and administrative tract which will focus on system cancer rehab program development.

Target Audience

Nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, physiatrists/physicians, fellows, and residentsinvolved with the acute care and rehabilitation are encouraged to attend.

Learning Objectives

Clinicians will identify opportunities for program development in their system or area of practice for individuals who need cancer rehabilitation.

Clinicians will be able to identify side effects in their practice and manage in their clinics/make appropriate referrals to rehab.

Clinicians will apply current evidence-based practice treatment techniques into patient care across the continuum of care and establish patient-centered goals.
