Cardiac Education Series: Pediatric Emergency & Vasoactive Medication Management Activity 2026

This course will review emergency medication management and titration of vasoactive continuous infusions in pediatric cardiac patients, focused on correct dosing, medication administration techniques, effectiveness of interventions, and special considerations for the drug. After the presentation, staff will complete a 4-5 page worksheet to provide practice with pediatric emergency medication and vasoactive medication titration practices. Learners will complete a series of multi-step questions related to emergency medication and vasoactive medication titration and submit answers in a test format to receive credit for participation. Staff have the ability to work with the educator to have the opportunity to ask questions and develop skills related to medications. Nurses will submit answers via Microsoft Forms. Need to achieve 100% to be eligible for ANCC continuing education credits.

After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • identify appropriate weight-based pediatric drug dosing recommendations (PALS).
  •  identify one specific consideration for titration of vasoactive medications and hemodynamic response.
