Centers of Excellence Learning Session 2.6.20
n order to curb the Opioid epidemic the Pennsylvania Centers of Excellence (COE's) need to expand their Community Based Care Management teams with the addition of Certified Recovery Specialists (CRSs) and provide them with support and supervision. There is currently limited use of motivational interviewing by COE medical staff. Awareness and connection to Community Organizations is in the early stages and the COEs are needing new ways to outreach and to adopt people-first language. Centers of Excellence that are advanced in the areas of Motivational Interviewing and being able to connect to Community Organizations, who have staff that include Certified Recovery Specialists and they are trained, supervised and supported by the organization.
Learning Objectives
- Describe best practices for the role of Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS)
- Discuss how to support CRSs on your team
- Describe how to use the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) framework as part of your daily work to make continuous improvements
- Describe the spirit and skills of motivational interviewing
- Discuss how to adopt motivational interviewing principles in your COE setting
- Describe the Families in Recovery program and the applications for your COE
- Discuss strategies for developing community connections and working with community partners to adopt people-first language
- Discuss qualitative and quantitative feedback and insights from the MCOs
