Clostridium difficile: Strategies for Diagnosis, Treatment and Infection Control

April 24, 2024

Clostridium difficile (C. diff.) is a common hospital acquired infection. Because of a new hypertoxin producing strain of C. diff., in the last decade, C. diff. has become more frequent, and the disease has resulted in more severe disease, more morbidity, and more mortality. Consequently, one of the main system quality goals is to reduce the incidence of C. diff. in our hospitals. Staff need updated information about diagnosis, treatment, and infection control strategies in an effort to prevent or minimize occurrence and consequences of C. diff.

Healthcare teams that practice collaboratively, using the best and most contemporary evidence, will enhance the delivery of care and improve patient outcomes. This activity will provide new information specific to C. diff. that will enable the healthcare team to provide best care to this population.
