This conference is designed to provide state-of-the-art information and best practice guidelines in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds. Both medical and surgical management strategies to optimize wound healing will be addressed.


Call for Poster Abstracts 
e will be accepting poster abstracts from May 1st through Aug. 2nd, regarding research and case studies as they relate to wound care. If selected, you will have the opportunity to present your poster. It will be displayed throughout the designated viewing areas during the conference. The highest rated poster in each category will receive a certificate.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, nurses, physical therapists, podiatrists, dietitians, advanced practice providers, researchers, and all clinicians involved in wound healing or wound care issues. Course material will benefit both novice and experienced clinicians.

Learning Objectives

The goal of this symposium is to provide a comprehensive overview on the treatment of wound care-related issues and innovations in the field. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
•    Examine strategies to manage health injury in the Space environment 
•    Describe the standards to analyze AI tools 
•    Analyze methods that utilize AI in the medical field 
•    Interpret the current insights on DFU’s 
•    Compare treatment plans using Cellular Tissue Based products
•    Determine the outcomes with community engagement
•    Discuss the relationship between the DHA and wound care 
•    Review infectious disease practices 
•    Understand capability gaps in military wound care
•    Contrast the military approaches for limb salvage with civilian plan of care
•    Differentiate surgical methods for treating DFU’s
•    Summarize the role of the plastic surgeon in the limb salvage team 
•    Review the vascular needs for limb salvage to be successful 
•    Describe the challenges assessing the wounded patient’s nutritional status 
•    Give examples of methods to determine care for wounds on the “bottom” from a nursing perspective 
•    Identify atypical wounds that are on the “bottom” of the patient 
•    Examine the surgical management of fistulas 
•    Define acute skin failure (ASF)
•    Explore data collection methods for ASF
•    Explain the use of bio-impedance detection of skin failure 
•    Analyze CMS data for trends of groups that do not receive the care they need 
•    Comprehend the legal considerations around pressure injuries 
•    Interpret social determinants of health in relation to wound care 
•    List the gaps in diabetic care
•     Enhance the ability to choose an antimicrobial wound dressing 
•     Conclude the impact of using hypochlorous acid 
•    Translate the updates of biofilm research 
•    Demonstrate debridement techniques 
•    Apply TCC with competent technique 
•    Show methods to provide care for the ostomate
