This session focuses on using person-centered communication to navigate difficult conversations in healthcare settings.

UPMC Health Plan Clinical Staff, including nurses, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff

  1. Recognize different communication styles and your own​
  2. Identify what a difficult conversation is and what makes it uncomfortable​ 
  3. Apply person-centered skills to navigate difficult conversations​
  4. Analyze difficult conversations in various settings including chronic care, behavioral health, and shared decision making
