2023 WISER/UPMC Rapid Response Symposium
A symposium for UPMC faculty and staff dedicated to sharing, educating, networking, and advancing rapid response capabilities across the health system.
This event includes interactive sessions and presentations from clinical, administrative, and professional leaders in the rapid response field from within the UPMC Health System.
Target Audience
UPMC faculty and staff, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists.
Learning Objectives
- Define three critical steps in planning inpatient rapid response systems
- Compare and contrast the needs of the rapid response system based on facility size and resources
- List three essential components contributing to the quality improvement efforts of evaluating rapid response systems
- Appraise the current state of rapid response hot topics including but not limited to families at codes, just in time directives, code team constructs, and code documentation
- Discuss the role transition from the perspective of a rapid response nurse
- Identify training models and support resources utilized to develop rapid response teams
- Describe the role of rapid response teams and systems for codes in unconventional locations such as clinics and outpatient departments
- Recognize innovative models and projects related to rapid response systems implemented within the UPMC health system
- Analyze for effective code management during critical incidents
- Illustrate the benefits of code team debriefing and post-event follow up
- Review the ethical and legal considerations in relation to various codes
