This course will review the best practices of family centered trauma informed care for sexual assault patients.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course: The learner will be able to:
- describe what role the crime lab plays in evidence testing;
- understand what the district attorney does when decided legal proceedings,
- understand how police involvement happens during preliminary sexual assault investigations, provide competent sexual assault care through colposcopy, foresnic photography, evidence collection and effective communication;
- be able to discusses npep and post-assault care;
- help identify ways to care for human trafficking patients.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the University of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Affiliate of the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists. The University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physician Assistant (AAPA)
