2025 TiPS Behavioral Health and Pediatric Primary Care Fall Conference

TiPS is a Pennsylvania HealthChoices program designed to increase the availability to child psychiatry consultation teams regionally and telephonically to primary care providers, for children insured by either Pennsylvania’s Medical Assistance (Medicaid) Program or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).  In addition to real time peer to peer consultation, TiPS provides free training and education to pediatric practitioners on a variety of behavioral health topics that are relevant to primary care. 

This conference is being sponsored by the UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics Children’s TIPS Team and co-funded by Pennsylvania HealthChoices. 

Target Audience

Pediatric Primary Care Physicians, Family Practice Physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers (PA, DNP, CRNP), and Behavioral Health Providers working in a primary care office who practice in the northwestern, and southwestern PA counties.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss how to utilize Children’s TiPS for psychiatric consultation.
  2. Discuss how to respond to threats of violence in a pediatric primary care setting.
  3. Review primary care medication management guidelines/recommendations for the use of antidepressants, stimulants, nonstimulants in pediatric primary care

In support of improving patient care, the University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
 

Physician (CME)

The University of Pittsburgh designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians         should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other Healthcare Professionals

Other health care professionals will receive a certificate of attendance confirming the number of contact hours           commensurate with the extent of participation in this activity.

Education and Consultative Services of UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5059. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Education and Consultative Services of UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is solely responsible for all aspects of this program. This program is being offered for 4.0 continuing education hours.

Licensed/Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapists: LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Pittsburgh is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Other professionals are awarded .40 Continuing Education Units (CEU's). One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours. Peer Specialists: This program fulfills requirements for Certified Peer Specialist continuing education.

 

  • CME, AAPA, ANCC, CRNP, PA,  and LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT certificates will be issued from the CCEHS registration site.
  • We request that evaluations are completed and/or certificates are requested via https://cce.upmc.com within a month of the conference. Please be aware that the program evaluation will be closed, and we will no longer process certificates if they are requested a year or more after the conference.
  • NBCC and General CEU – Participants will be awarded continuing education contact hour(s) certificate four to   six weeks post-conference via e-mail. Please keep these certificates in a safe place. Replacements will cost $30.
