Bridging the Gap and Expanding Together: Use of Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (PDHM) in the Level 1 Nursery
A one-hour presentation on the initiation and dissemination of the Donor Human Milk Bridge program throughout UPMC system, highlighting the process and successes at UPMC Harrisburg. Donor milk was first used at UPMC Altoona in 2021, and now 7 birthing hospitals in UPMC system use it to support exclusive human milk feeding in Level 1 infants during the postpartum hospital stay. This is a reprise of a talk given at New Horizons in Birth on May 16, with additional material added about how UPMC worked as a system to advance this initiative.
