By the end of this course, the Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider will be able to:

1.Apply a systematic approach to chest X-ray interpretation (e.g., ABCDE method or equivalent) in a consistent and reproducible manner.

2.Assess technical quality of chest radiographs, including identification of appropriate positioning, penetration, inspiration, and rotation.

3.Identify normal thoracic anatomy on chest X-ray, including cardiac silhouette, lung fields, mediastinum, diaphragm, and bony structures.

4.Recognize common ICU-related pathologies, including: Pneumothorax, Pleural effusion, Pulmonary edema, Atelectasis, Pneumonia. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)

5.Interpret the position and complications of common support devices, including: Endotracheal tubes, Central venous catheters, Feeding tubes, Chest tubes, Pulmonary artery catheters

6.Differentiate normal variants from clinically significant abnormalities to reduce diagnostic error.

7.Correlate radiographic findings with clinical presentation to support appropriate clinical decision-making in the ICU setting.

8.Communicate key findings clearly and concisely to the interdisciplinary team, including escalation of critical findings when appropriate.

9.Demonstrate improved diagnostic accuracy in identifying urgent or life-threatening abnormalities requiring immediate intervention.
