This course was designed to encourage interdisciplinary care of patients in the rehabilitation setting. It will encourage team building and hands-on learning for each of the attendees. This activity will help to increase patient safety and staff competence.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  • demonstrate correct body mechanics while transferring a patient via squat/pivot and stand/pivot transfers
  • correctly list 3 common causes of skin breakdown in patients with a SCI
  • list the common signs and symptoms of autonomic dysreflexia and demonstrate appropriate steps to alleviate autonomic dysreflexia
  • list 3 components of a therapeutic environment for a patient with a TBI
  • list components of FND and explain the significance of Goal Mountain
  • list items to go in a “Go-Bag” for a patient with a tracheostomy.
