Clinician Development Series: Session 2 | August 15, 2025
The Clinical Development Series is a comprehensive educational initiative designed to enhance the expertise and leadership capabilities of clinicians and healthcare leaders. Through targeted sessions grounded in evidence-based practice, this series empowers participants with the knowledge, strategies, and tools necessary to drive excellence in patient care, foster professional growth, and lead effectively across a range of healthcare environments.
Target Audience
This course is open to nurse clinicians at UPMC St. Margaret.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this series, the learner will:
- Apply stress reduction techniques to support work-life harmony and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Explain the role of financial stewardship, capacity management, and strategic planning in clinical leadership.
- Describe key principles of privacy compliance, quality improvement (QI), and evidence-based practice (EBP) relevant to nursing leadership.
- Apply QI methodologies and EBP principles to real or simulated clinical scenarios to improve patient outcomes.
- Analyze how divisional goals relate to broader organizational standards and identify areas of misalignment.
- Evaluate budgetary decisions and resource allocations to ensure they support quality care delivery.
- Develop a structured leadership action plan that includes team mentoring, coaching strategies, and performance improvement initiatives aligned with system priorities.
