Target Audience

Learning Objectives
To reinforce what has been learned through applying practices to help ensure delivery of Culturally Competent Care. We will:
- Review our learning on Unconscious Bias
- Ensure understanding of the importance of Culturally Competent Care
- Explore practical ways to apply the learning in our patient delivery practices
Week 1
- To provide Awareness of Bias through exploration of:
- The science behind Unconscious Bias
- Bias and Culturally Competent Care
- The importance of Unconscious Bias in the Physician – Patient Relationship
Week 2
To explore the impact of Unconscious Bias on health care by examining:
- Events in our world that focused attention on the health care inequalities face by those in Black and Brown communities
- The impact on health care
Week 3
To provide insights as to managing individual Biases through exploration of Emotional Intelligence with the focus on:
- Self-Awareness - Know Thyself
- Bias Interrupt / Managing Behavior and Microaggressions
- Increasing Cultural Competence
Week 4
To reinforce what has been learned through applying practices to help ensure delivery of Culturally Competent Care. We will:
- Review our learning on Unconscious Bias
- Ensure understanding of the importance of Culturally Competent Care
- Explore practical ways to apply the learning in our patient delivery practices
