Diabetes Boot Camp 3: Deep Dive Into Diabetes Clinical Care @ The Bedside--Time to Embrace Best Practice
This program will review basic diabetes pathophysiology and focus of pharmacological treatment regimens. Current diabetes standards of care that influence the policies, procedures, and powerplans within our hospital will also be discussed.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this program the learner will be able to:
- Discuss the basic pathophysiology of the different types of diabetes and associated complications.
- List the different types of diabetes medications currently available and how they improve glycemia.
- Explain 2 national standards of care for in-patient diabetes.
- Identify 1 UPMC standard of care (policy, protocol, guideline, or order-set) and highlight key points of best practice.
In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the University of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Affiliate of the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists. The University of Pittsburgh is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The maximum number of hours awarded for this Continuing Nursing Education activity is 7.25 contact hours.
