ED Trauma Skills Fair 5/14/2024
This course was designed to enhance the knowledge for all nurses who care for the highly specialized patient population that comes through the ED.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:
- demonstrate proper application of cervical collars, infant papoose, and log rolling for patient with spinal precautions.
- verbalize proper evidence collection techniques as well as chain of custody for trauma patients
- demonstrate proper application of tourniquet and use of quik clot for patients with traumatic hemorrhage.
- verbalize documentation requirements on level 1 trauma flowsheet.
- demonstrate proper placement of NG/OG tube during trauma resuscitation.
- demonstrate securing IO access device as well as verbalize vascular access options during trauma resuscitation.
- demonstrate proper set up of pleur-evac and verbalize emergency equipment for chest tubes
- demonstrate proper set up and infusion with level 1 rapid infuser and lifeflow/warrior devices.
- demonstrate proper reconstitution and administration of ancef for trauma patients
- verbalize indications and administration techniques for hypertonic saline and mannitol.
- verbalize medications used and administration sequence for rapid sequence intubation.
- verbalize which blood products are available in the ED as well as indications for activating massive transfusion protocol.
