Enhancing Teaching Skills for Medical Educators (Online): It’s All About Perspective: Teaching with the Arts
“It’s All About Perspective: Teaching with the Arts” is a learning module created for medical educators as part of the “Enhancing Teaching Skills Lunchtime Webinar Series.” The goal of this series is to enhance core teaching and scholarship skills for medical educators of both medical students and residents throughout the UPMC system. The webinar series occurs live through Microsoft Teams from 12:00-1:00PM every other month during the academic year. Target Audience
Medical educators of both medical students and residents.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe how narrative competence enhances clinical skills for physicians
- Recognize how perspective-taking builds empathy among clinicians
- Describe one way to incorporate the arts into clinical teaching in medical education
