Learning Objectives
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Recall the pertinence of carcinogenesis, cell differentiation, and the tumor microenvironment in malignant disease.
- Describe the impact of disparity, equality, and the social determinants of health for the oncology patient.
- Compare and contrast the various treatment modalities and the coinciding adverse effects for the cancer patient.
- Apply principles of alternative and complementary medicine as a treatment modality.
- Discuss the immune system’s function in the development and treatment of cancer.
- Identify goals of treatment for patients with cancer and barriers that may exist for the patient and the clinician.
- Recall the role of clinical trials in treating patients with cancer.
