The purpose of this training is to provide an overview of Lifestyle Medicine interventions for clinical staff to utilize with members of the UPMC Health Plan.
 

SPECIAL NOTE:
There is no educational content to this course. This course is designed to supplement training that has already occurred. This course is designed to only administer the post-test and collect CME evaluations.

Nurses, Social Workers, Health Coaches, Registered Dieticians, Pharmacists, and Paramedics / EMTs

Learning Objectives

 
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
 
  • Identify the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine
  • Describe the effects of evidence-based, Lifestyle Medicine interventions with the effects of the current medical first-line approaches to the three most common chronic disease in America
  • Construct sample plans of care utilizing evidence-based lifestyle interventions for the three most common chronic disease in America

Nicole Barthel, BSN, RN
Nicole Barthel is a Registered Nurse from West Deer Township, and currently obtaining her Doctorate In Nursing Practice at the University of Pittsburgh. Her studies specialize in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care, and nursing education, with a particular interest in reversing chronic diseases through Lifestyle Medicine. She currently practices as a Registered Nurse at UPMC Montefiore, serves as undergraduate Clinical Faculty at Pitt, and is the current Vice President of the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group of Central and Western Pennsylvania.
