- Identify early and late clinical signs of hypertensive crisis and recognize indications for escalation of care.
- Demonstrate safe nursing management of patients receiving magnesium sulfate, including monitoring, prevention, and recognition of toxicity.
- Apply evidence‑based interventions during simulation scenarios involving hypertensive emergencies using TeamSTEPPS communication strategies.
Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) / Condition O‑A‑C Response
- Describe the pathophysiology and hallmark presentation of amniotic fluid embolism and other obstetric conditions requiring emergent response.
- Identify the nurse’s role during a Condition O/A/C, including rapid assessment, task prioritization, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Demonstrate effective participation in a simulated AFE response, utilizing closed‑loop communication and role clarity to support maternal stabilization.
Care of the Transition Newborn
- Identify normal and abnormal findings during the immediate newborn transition period.
- Demonstrate appropriate nursing interventions during the first minutes of life, including thermoregulation, airway management, and glucose stabilization.
- Apply principles of NRP Essentials / Newborn First 5 during simulation‑based newborn care scenarios.
Isolette Use and Safe Newborn Care
- Describe indications for isolette use in the Mother Baby setting.
- Demonstrate correct setup, temperature regulation, and safety checks when caring for an infant in an isolette.
- Implement infection prevention and thermoregulation strategies when transferring and caring for newborns requiring isolette support.
Simulation & Team Performance
- Participate in high‑fidelity simulation scenarios to reinforce clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication in maternal and newborn emergencies.
- Reflect on individual and team performance during structured debriefing to identify opportunities for improved patient safety and outcomes
