Malignant Hyperthermia in the Pediatric outpatient setting - November 2020

Malignant Hyperthermia is not a common occurrence at the surgery center, however  and MH crisis is something that staff needs to understand and have the knowledge and skills to recognize and treat if and when it occurs at the outpatient facility. Because it is not a common occurrence, it is an emergency situation that requires the skills and knowledge of staff that are trained to prevent   and treat MH prior to it becoming an emergency

Learning Objectives

1.  Understand the potential risk factors that make a patient susceptible to an MH crisis

2.  Recognize and understand  signs and symptoms  of potential and actual  malignant hyperthermia crisis

3.  Obtain knowledge of resources available to mange a Malignant hyperthermia crisis ( MH emergency box and MH hotline)

4. Demonstrate hands on skills to provide care of patient experiencing an MH crisis
