One Team, Many Hearts: Discharge Planners and OPOs in Organ Donation

Many staff working within the Clinical Care Coordination and Discharge Planning department do not always understand the impact of donation and their role in the donation process. This education will help allow staff to not only understand the types of organ donation and overall process but also provide aspects of CORE's grief and bereavement programs. This will help staff more effectively support families involved with CORE.

- Identify 3 aspects of effective request (timely referral, pre-approach huddle, de-coupled approach)

- Differentiate between DCD and BD organ donation in setting of family needs and ICU communication

- Describe process for organ donor and organ evaluation

- Recall aspects of CORE's grief and bereavement program
